And this is why playing guitar is an endless process of running out of fingers….
“It’s easy… you just put your ring finger here… your index finger here… your pinky here… your other ring finger here… and your third middle finger here… see… you’re all set. Now on to the difficult chords.”
You make it so much easier Marty. It’s much appreciated.
I grew up in the hendrix and blues theory. I want to learn jazz theory i just dont understand it.When you play lead is it arpeggios most of the time? Great lesson btw.
Man this has really got me into Jazz guitar!! i always thought it to be too hard..lots of theory etc… but i think i’m gonna finally take a leap! Thanks for a great tutorial man…Might just have to buy ur new DVD set? haha
Believe it or not, it is a huge sub-genre in itself. However here are a few names to get you started. However before you buy any records I recommend that you do some research on the internet to figure out the style that you might have the most affinity to:
Al Di Meola
Pat Metheny
Wes Montgomery
John McLaughlin (Check out some of his work with Shakti)
Django Reinhardt
And so and so and so forth. Way too many to be named here. These should get you started though…
Thanks Marty I really enjoy these Jazz videos…I’ve never really listened to jazz that much so this really opens up some new avenues for me…can you (or any of your students) suggest a few jazz guitarists to listen to?
