Here’s an awesome lick in the style of Randy Rhoads which is awesome to cap off any solo. It’s especially great because its all hammer-ons and pull-offs allowing you to play it super fast without that much effort PS: I realize that hearing me dictate the lick can be a bit confusing because it does go back and forth, up and down the guitar neck, but once you get it you’ll have a lot of fun!

I was wondering what he is playing over basic blues changes, because there seems to be jazzy sounds mixed in. He has a simple style, but he makes it swing and sound like jazz when he plays over say a 12-bar blues. I’ve read about this being called “The Blue Note” sound, however I am baffled by how players do this. Can you please make a lesson discussing what scales and musical concepts are involved with getting this Blue Note Sound. – Norman — London, England A: The Blue Note sound is part of a very soulful group of recordings released in the late 1950’s to mid- 1960’s. And, two of the big names on guitar back then were definitely Kenny Burrell, as well as, a New York based guitarist named Grant Green. I am using my 1990 American Standard Telecaster.I’m playing through my Kustom PA system and using my Zoom G-2 to enhance the sound.
